PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

M-C-Tuff 600-AL and M-C-Tuff 500-BC are multi-purpose aliphatic and hybrid aromatic single-component urethane waterproofing membranes designed to maintain, restore and upgrade the performance of existing, aged roof systems. They provide a white ENERGY STAR® compliant reflective surface. The M-C-Tuff 500-BC and M-C-Tuff 600-AL formulations are Federal EPA VOC compliant.

These versatile products are used in conjunction with TUFFLEX INT’L “RFG” Fiberglass Mat or TUFFLEX INT’L “PW” Polyester Soft fabric to provide additional reinforcement. The M-C-Tuff 500-BC and M-C-Tuff 600 products can be used to coat the entire roof or as a repair material for maintenance applications.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Basic Uses: M-C-Tuff 600-AL and M-C-Tuff 600-BC can be used to coat an entire single ply, metal, smooth BUR or mineral surfaced modified roof system. They can also be used as a repair material for maintenance applications.

Precautions: In areas where the roof is subject to foot traffic, it is recommended to apply walkway pads or an additional layer of Top Coat with the broadcast of granules for a walkway surface. Excess water on the roof surface can cause the roof to become slippery. The coating must be fully reinforced in ponded water or low spot areas. Prior to coating any surface, be sure the coating will adhere by performing an adhesion test (ASTM D 903). Stir material before use with a Jiffy blade and slow speed mixer until it is an even consistency.

Shelf Life: Twelve (12) months after manufacture when continuously stored indoors in the original unopened metal pail at temperatures less than 80ºF. Stir thoroughly prior to use.

Standard Colors: Base Coat- Gray; Top Coat- White

PRODUCT INSTALLATION

Restoration Overview: Ensure that all wet insulation is removed. An infrared scan is highly recommended. Remove all dirt, dust, and debris from the roof surface. Make any necessary repairs and also verify that all repairs are securely bonded.

Single-Ply/Metal Restoration System - Power wash the entire surface, including flashings with TSP or Simple Green. Tuff-Poxy #3 Metal Primer must be used to prime all metal roof systems. Refer to the primer data sheet for coverage rates. For both single-ply and metal systems, strip in all repairs and seams with 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. of M-C-Thane 500-BC Base Coat (16 wet mils) and then embed strips of reinforcement fabric by brush or rolling into place from the center out to ensure adequate bleed through and adhesion. Next, top reinforcement with 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. of M-C-Tuff 500-BC or M-C-Tuff 600-AL (16 wet mils). Allow seams to dry for 24-48 hours. Finally coat entire roof (including seams) with 1-1/2 to 2 gallons (24-32 wet mils) of M-C-Tuff 600-AL per 100 sq. ft. by brush, roller or airless spray (follow the airless spray by backrolling).

Modified/BUR Reinforced System - Power wash the entire surface including flashings with TSP or Simple Green. Certain asphaltic conditions may require use of a TUFFLEX INT’L Water-Based Epoxy Primer. Perform adhesion test before proceeding with entire job. Onto the entire field of the roof and flashings, apply 1.5 gallons per 100 sq. ft. of M-C-Tuff 500-BC Base Coat (24 wet mils) and then embed TUFFLEX INT’L “RFG” or “PW” reinforcement fabric by brush or rolling into place from the center out to ensure adequate bleed through and adhesion. Next in those areas of reinforcement without adequate apply an additional 1 gallon per 100 sq. ft. of M-C-Tuff 500-BC Base Coat (16 wet mils). Allow to dry for 24-48 hours. Finally, apply an additional 1-1/2 to 2 gallons (24-32 wet mils) of M-C-Tuff 600-AL per 100 sq. ft. by trowel, squeegee or roller to entire roof.
